Ascona, a small municipality of around 5,000 inhabitants in the canton of Ticino, is located on the shore of the delightful Lake Maggiore (Italian: Lago Maggiore). It is a charming touristic town well known for its yearly held New Orleans Jazz Festival in Summer. Boats on the Lago Maggiore also stop at Ascona and the tropical-like Brissago islands, which are located nearby.
